I Tried Everything for My Acne. Here’s Why I Created Good Regimen Skin Company
Some ingredients are more than ingredients.
For me, Bird’s Nest is one of them.
Before I ever understood skincare ingredients, skin barriers, hydration, microbiome support, or formulation, I knew Bird’s Nest as something rare and meaningful. Growing up in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, in a Chinese immigrant family, Bird’s Nest was always spoken about with respect.
It was not just another ingredient.
It was special. It was treasured. It was connected to wellness, nourishment, beauty, and care.
As a kid, I did not fully understand why Bird’s Nest mattered so much. I just knew that when people talked about it, they talked about it with intention.
It was part of my heritage.
It was part of the way care was shown.
And years later, after struggling with oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin for much of my life, that same ingredient would become the heart of Good Regimen Skin Company.
This is the Good Regimen founder story — the story of how my acne-prone skin journey, Chinese heritage, Honolulu upbringing, Aloha spirit, and connection to Bird’s Nest skincare all came together.
Growing Up in Honolulu With Chinese Heritage
I grew up in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, surrounded by culture, family, food, island life, and community.
There is something special about growing up in Hawai‘i. The ocean, the mountains, the warmth, the food, the outdoor lifestyle, and the mix of cultures all become part of who you are. But more than anything, Hawai‘i teaches you about connection.
The Aloha spirit is something you feel growing up there. It is warmth, respect, kindness, humility, and care for the people and place around you. It is the way people show up for each other. It is the way community matters. It is the way care is not just spoken, but practiced.
That stayed with me.
At the same time, growing up in a Chinese immigrant family gave me a strong connection to heritage, tradition, and the idea that care often starts at home.
In my family, traditions were passed down through everyday life — through food, family stories, small rituals, and the way certain ingredients were treated with meaning.
Bird’s Nest was one of those ingredients.
In Chinese culture, Bird’s Nest has long been connected to nourishment, beauty, restoration, and vitality. Growing up, I understood that it was precious. It represented care, wellness, and something you gave to yourself or someone you loved when you wanted to nourish them.
At the time, I had no idea this ingredient would one day become part of my own brand story.
But looking back, I can see how those early memories became part of the foundation of Good Regimen Skin Company and the reason Bird’s Nest skincare felt so personal to me from the beginning.
Food, Wellness, and the Soups I Grew Up With
Food was another big part of my story.
Growing up in a Chinese family, I was always taught that what you put into your body matters. Food was connected to energy, balance, strength, health, and even the way your skin looked and felt.
I grew up being told to eat certain soups and traditional foods because they were “good for you.” Bird’s Nest soup was one of them, but there were many others too — nourishing soups, herbal soups, broths, and traditional foods believed to support overall wellness from the inside out.
When we had Bird’s Nest soup, I remember being told to “not waste a drop.”
Even as a kid, I understood that it was not just another soup. I may not have had the words for it then, but I knew it was considered something special — almost like a superfood long before “superfood” became a popular word.
I also remember learning what made Bird’s Nest so unique. I was told it came from the nest of a special bird, made from its saliva, and that these birds lived high along sea cliffs. As a child, that sounded unusual, rare, and almost mysterious.
In my family, Bird’s Nest was made into a sweet soup, and it actually tasted good.
That contrast stayed with me — something so rare and unusual being turned into something warm, sweet, nourishing, and comforting.
Bird’s Nest felt precious because everything about it seemed unique: where it came from, how it was gathered, how carefully it was prepared, and how strongly people believed in its value.
It was also something I understood to be expensive and rare. That was part of why it was treated with so much care. It was not something you wasted. It was not something you took for granted.
That stayed with me too.
Looking back now, I realize those early experiences shaped the way I think about beauty and skincare.
In my family, skincare was never only about what you put on your face. It was also connected to how you cared for your whole body.
But growing up, I did not always know what was affecting my breakouts, oiliness, or skin balance. Was it food? Sweat? Hormones? Products? Stress? The weather? All of it together?
I did not have the answers yet.
I just knew my skin was difficult, and I wanted to understand how to support healthier-looking skin in a way that felt more complete than simply using another harsh acne product.
Years later, when I began thinking about Bird’s Nest skincare, part of what excited me was the idea of taking an ingredient I grew up seeing as rare, precious, and meaningful and making it more approachable as part of a daily skincare regimen.
The Contrast of Growing Up in Hawai‘i: Food, Fitness, and Skin
Growing up in Hawai‘i came with a unique contrast.
On one hand, Hawai‘i is one of the most beautiful places to grow up active. The weather, ocean, mountains, and outdoor lifestyle naturally encourage movement. I played basketball, went to the beach, bodyboarded, hiked, ran, lifted weights, went to the gym, and stayed active as much as I could.
There was always a reason to be outside.
But on the other hand, Hawai‘i also has an incredible food culture — and a lot of it is rich, heavy, comforting, and not always the best thing to eat all the time for your health or your skin.
That was the contrast I grew up with.
A healthy, active lifestyle on one side.
Delicious comfort food on the other.
Hawai‘i is such an underrated foodie destination. People often think first about the beaches, mountains, sunsets, and natural beauty, but the food is such a major part of local life. Plate lunches, fried foods, rice-heavy meals, noodles, snacks, sweets, local favorites, and comfort foods are everywhere.
The food is meaningful, nostalgic, delicious, and deeply connected to culture.
But when you have oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin, it can be hard to understand how that kind of lifestyle affects your skin.
I was active and trying to stay fit, but I was also surrounded by heavy comfort food. I was sweating from basketball, the gym, hiking, running, and beach days, but I was also eating foods that were not always helping my body or my skin feel its best.
Looking back, I can see that my skin was caught in the middle of that contrast too — active, but constantly sweating; outdoors, but constantly exposed to sun and humidity; eating foods I loved, but not always foods that supported my skin.
That experience taught me something important: skincare is not separate from lifestyle.
Your skin is affected by how you live, how you eat, how much you sweat, how you cleanse, how you sleep, and how consistently you care for yourself.
And that is one of the reasons Good Regimen was built around the idea of a regimen.
Not perfection. Not restriction. Not giving up the foods, activities, or lifestyle you love.
But having a consistent skincare routine that helps support your skin through real life.
Honolulu’s Environment Made My Skin Harder to Manage
Hawai‘i is beautiful, but it is also an environment where your skin is constantly exposed to the elements.
The sun is strong. The air is humid. You sweat easily. And when you live an active lifestyle, your skin is constantly dealing with sunscreen, sweat, salt water, heat, dirt, and outdoor exposure.
For me, that was everyday life.
After basketball, my skin felt sweaty and greasy. After the beach or bodyboarding, I had sunscreen, salt water, and sun exposure sitting on my skin. Sometimes I would be out at the beach all day and end up sunburnt. After hiking, running, or going to the gym, I had another layer of sweat, oil, and buildup to deal with.
Honestly, it felt like I was sweating 24/7.
At the time, I thought I needed harsher products to keep up with my lifestyle. I thought I needed to cleanse harder, scrub more, dry everything out, and control the oil.
But looking back, I understand now that my skin was not just oily.
It was stressed.
It was exposed.
It was constantly being challenged by sun, humidity, sweat, sunscreen, workouts, salt water, and the environment around me.
And on days when my skin had already been through a lot — especially after sun exposure or a sunburn — harsh acne products felt even more uncomfortable. My skin could feel tight, dry, reactive, and overworked, even though I thought I was doing what I needed to do to control my acne.
What I really needed was a better regimen — one that could cleanse effectively without stripping, hydrate without feeling heavy, and support my skin barrier instead of constantly disrupting it.
I wish I understood that earlier.
Active skin still needs gentle care. Oily skin still needs hydration. Acne-prone skin still needs support.
That belief became part of the foundation of Good Regimen’s barrier-first skincare philosophy.
My Skin Struggles Started Long Before the Brand
Good Regimen did not begin as a business idea.
It began with my own skin struggles.
For years, I dealt with oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin. And it affected more than just how my skin looked. It affected how I felt.
When your skin is constantly breaking out, oily, irritated, or unpredictable, it can impact your confidence in quiet but very real ways.
You become aware of your skin in every setting. You think about lighting. You notice photos. You wonder if people notice. You try to cover it, fix it, dry it out, or control it.
For a long time, I thought the answer was to be more aggressive.
Cleanse harder.
Dry it out.
Use stronger treatments.
Strip away the oil.
Fight the breakouts.
That was the mindset I had because that was what so many acne-focused products taught me to believe.
Spending Every Penny Searching for an Answer
As a teenager, I did not have much money to spend on skincare, but somehow, almost every extra dollar I had went toward it.
I worked part-time, and almost every dollar I could pull together went toward trying skincare products. I searched drugstore shelves, read labels, watched commercials, listened to sales pitches, and believed the promises printed on bottles and boxes.
I tried almost every “affordable” over-the-counter acne product I could find — cleansers, scrubs, toners, drying lotions, acne kits, and harsh acid spot treatments.
Anything that made me believe this might finally be the one.
When you are struggling with acne, you want to believe the marketing.
I definitely did.
I wanted the miracle product to be real. I wanted the before-and-after photos, the bold claims, and the promises of clearer skin to apply to me too.
So I kept trying.
I kept spending.
I kept hoping.
But the miracle never came.
Some products dried my skin out. Some made my skin feel tight. Some irritated my skin. Some seemed to help for a moment, only for the breakouts to come back. And many did nothing at all.
The acid spot treatments were especially hard on my skin. At the time, I thought the sting, dryness, and peeling meant they were working. Looking back, I can see that I was often making my skin feel more stressed while trying to make it look clearer.
That was one of the most frustrating parts of my skincare journey — feeling like I was doing everything I could afford to do, but still not getting the healthy-looking skin I wanted.
The Confidence Challenges of Oily, Acne-Prone Skin
Having oily, acne-prone skin affected my confidence more than I wanted to admit at the time.
It was not just about having a breakout.
It was the constant awareness of my skin.
Wondering if my face looked oily.
Wondering if my acne was noticeable.
Wondering if my skin texture showed in photos.
Wondering if people were looking at my skin instead of listening to me.
There were times I did not want to be in pictures. There were times I felt less comfortable meeting people, going out, or showing up confidently because I felt like my skin was the first thing people would notice.
And living somewhere sunny and humid like Honolulu made it even harder to hide. The heat and humidity made my skin oilier. Sweating made me feel like I needed to cleanse more. Sunscreen was necessary, but it could feel heavy or uncomfortable when layered over oily, acne-prone skin.
Instead of feeling comfortable in my skin, I was always trying to control it.
Control the oil.
Control the breakouts.
Control the shine.
Control how my skin looked.
Looking back, I realize how much emotional energy that took.
That feeling is one of the reasons I became so interested in skincare. I was not just trying to make my skin look better. I was trying to feel more comfortable, more confident, and more like myself.
When Lifestyle Started Showing Up on My Skin
As I got older, especially around the time I turned 21, my lifestyle changed too.
I started going out more, drinking, staying out late, eating differently, sleeping less, and not always taking care of my skin the way I should have. At that age, I did not fully understand how much those choices could affect my skin.
I just knew my acne seemed to get worse.
My skin looked more tired.
My complexion felt harder to manage.
Looking back, it makes sense.
My skin was already oily, acne-prone, and sensitive. Add late nights, alcohol, dehydration, heavy food, sweat, inconsistent cleansing, and lack of sleep, and my skin was under even more stress.
At the time, I thought my skin was just “bad skin.”
But now I understand that my skin was reacting to a combination of things: lifestyle, environment, harsh products, diet, stress, and inconsistency.
That period taught me another important lesson: skincare has to work for real life — not just perfect conditions.
Sometimes you sweat all day.
Sometimes you stay out late.
Sometimes you eat heavy food.
Sometimes you forget a step.
Sometimes your skin feels off.
That is exactly why I believe in building a consistent skincare regimen that helps bring your skin back to balance, comfort, and support.
When Acne Followed Me Into Adulthood
For a long time, I thought acne was something I would eventually grow out of.
But toward the end of my undergraduate years, my skin became even more difficult to manage. What had once felt like teenage acne became adult acne — and it followed me into the years when I was working full time.
That was when I started taking my skin even more seriously.
At that point, it was no longer just about trying random products or switching routines. I was seeing dermatologists frequently. I was using prescription-strength cleansers and treatments. I was getting injections directly into acne sites on my face. I went through treatments where liquid nitrogen was rolled over areas of my face. Eventually, I even took Accutane, which was one of the most intense things I ever put my body through for my skin.
That period was difficult.
When you reach the point of needing prescription treatments, dermatologist visits, injections, and aggressive options, acne becomes more than a surface-level concern. It affects your confidence, your routine, your patience, and the way you see yourself.
I wanted clear skin so badly that I was willing to try serious medical treatments, including treatments that required monitoring and came with potential medical risks. With Accutane, that included concerns I had heard about or discussed around liver problems, elevated cholesterol, pancreatitis, increased pressure in the brain, and potential mood changes.
And while I was grateful to have access to dermatologists and medical options, that experience also made me realize how much my adult acne journey had taken from me.
Time.
Confidence.
Money.
Emotional energy.
It made me feel like my skin was something I constantly had to fight.
Looking back, I do not regret taking my skin seriously. I needed help, and I was trying to find answers. But I also learned that harshness alone was not the long-term relationship I wanted to have with my skin.
I wanted my skin to feel healthy.
I wanted it to feel supported.
I wanted a routine that felt less like a battle and more like care.
From Dermatologists to Proactiv
After years of trying over-the-counter products and later seeking help from dermatologists, I still felt like I was searching for something that would finally make a visible difference.
That is when I remember seeing the infomercials and sales pitches for Proactiv.
The marketing felt like it was speaking directly to people like me — people who had tried everything, felt frustrated, and wanted something that would finally help the appearance of acne.
After so many failed attempts to help my skin, I decided to try it.
And for my skin, it was one of the first products that seemed to make a noticeable difference in the appearance of my acne.
But I also felt the tradeoff quickly.
My skin often felt dry, tight, stripped, reactive, and uncomfortable.
Those tradeoffs felt even more noticeable when my skin was already stressed from sun, sweat, salt water, or long days outside.
It felt like my acne was being managed, but my skin did not feel as healthy or supported as I wanted it to feel.
And honestly, what was I supposed to do?
It was the first thing that actually seemed to help.
When you finally find something that seems to help, you hold onto it — even when your skin is telling you it needs something gentler.
That is how I got stuck.
For years, I relied on Proactiv because I was afraid of what would happen if I stopped. I knew my skin did not feel nourished or balanced, but I also worried that without it, the acne would come back.
So I stayed in that cycle.
Clearer-looking skin in exchange for skin that felt stripped.
Less visible acne in exchange for skin that did not feel as healthy as I wanted it to feel.
Control in exchange for comfort.
Learning That Clearer-Looking Skin Is Not Always Healthy-Looking Skin
One of the biggest lessons I learned was that there is a difference between skin that looks temporarily controlled and skin that looks genuinely healthy.
For a long time, I thought the goal was simply to stop breakouts at any cost.
That mindset led me through over-the-counter products, harsh acid spot treatments, prescription-strength products, dermatologist treatments, acne systems, injections, liquid nitrogen treatments, and even Accutane.
But over time, I started to understand that clearer-looking skin alone was not the full goal.
I wanted skin that felt comfortable.
Skin that looked balanced.
Skin that did not feel constantly stripped or tight.
Skin that could hold hydration better.
Skin that felt calmer, softer, and more resilient.
I had to stop seeing my skin as something I needed to fight every day.
I had to start seeing it as something I needed to support.
That shift changed everything.
It also became the reason I wanted to create gentle skincare for acne-prone skin that focused on hydration, comfort, barrier support, and consistency — not just harsh treatment.
Searching for Something That Could Support My Skin Differently
After years of relying on harsh acne systems, I started asking a different question.
I was no longer just asking, “How do I stop breakouts?”
I was asking, “How do I help my skin look clearer while also helping it feel healthier?”
That was the real shift.
I did not want to keep choosing between the appearance of fewer breakouts and skin that felt stripped, dry, reactive, or uncomfortable. I wanted something that could support my skin instead of constantly forcing it into submission.
That is when I came back to the idea of Bird’s Nest.
Bird’s Nest had always been part of my cultural memory. Growing up in a Chinese family, I knew Bird’s Nest soup as something rare, nourishing, and deeply connected to wellness and care.
When I came back to the idea of Bird’s Nest years later, I was not just thinking about an ingredient. I was remembering something I grew up seeing as rare, precious, and worth treating with care — something I was once told to “not waste a drop” of.
The more I researched, the more I started to believe there was something meaningful there.
Not just because of tradition.
But because of what Bird’s Nest represented: nourishment, support, balance, and care.
I was not looking for another trend. I was looking for something my skin could actually live with.
For me, Bird’s Nest skincare became the bridge between traditional Chinese wellness wisdom and a modern skincare routine for oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin.
I wanted a regimen that could help my skin appear clearer and more balanced, while also supporting hydration, comfort, and the look of overall skin health.
After years of chasing miracle products, harsh systems, prescription treatments, and quick fixes, I was no longer looking for punishment.
I was looking for care.
And Bird’s Nest skincare became the ingredient story that brought everything together: my Chinese heritage, my personal skin struggles, and my belief that good skin should start with a good regimen.
Coming Off Harsh Treatments Was Not Easy
Moving away from harsh acne treatment systems was not an instant perfect transition.
My skin had to adjust.
At first, I experienced some initial breakouts. My skin was used to an aggressive routine, and changing that routine took patience. When you already have a history of acne-prone skin, even a small breakout can make you question everything.
But I stayed consistent.
Instead of trying to punish my skin back into control, I focused on supporting it.
Gentle cleansing.
Hydration.
Barrier support.
Consistency.
And when I began using Bird’s Nest skincare consistently, my skin started to feel different.
It felt less stripped.
More comfortable.
More balanced.
Healthier-looking.
The initial adjustment period did not last forever. My skin began to regulate, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was helping my skin instead of fighting it.
That experience became one of the most important beliefs behind Good Regimen: skin does not always need to be forced into submission. Sometimes, it needs time, consistency, hydration, and support.
Bird’s Nest Skincare Became Part of a Better Regimen
Over time, I learned that Bird’s Nest skincare was not the only part of caring for my skin.
It became an important part of my regimen, but it was still one part of a bigger picture.
I still stay active. I still sweat. I still go to the gym. I still spend time outdoors. I still live my life.
But I am also human.
I do not always eat perfectly. Sometimes I eat the comfort foods I grew up loving. Sometimes I skip the gym. Sometimes I stay up later than I should. Sometimes life gets busy, and not every part of my lifestyle is perfect.
But one thing I do try to stay consistent with is my skincare regimen.
That consistency matters.
The difference now is that I am smarter about how I care for my skin after real life happens.
After a day in the sun, after sweating, after wearing sunscreen, after working out, or after being outside, I understand the importance of cleansing without stripping, replenishing hydration, and supporting my skin barrier instead of overcorrecting with harsh products.
I also became more mindful about what I eat. I still appreciate the foods I grew up with and the comfort foods that are part of Hawai‘i’s culture, but I try to eat in a way that better supports my overall health and my skin.
For me, skincare was never about becoming perfect. It was about becoming more intentional.
Bird’s Nest skincare helped me build a routine that felt supportive, but the bigger lesson was learning how to care for my skin through real life — sweat, sun, sunscreen, food, stress, late nights, busy days, and everything in between.
That is why the word “regimen” matters so much to me.
Good skin is not built from one product, one perfect habit, or one perfect day.
It is built from consistency, awareness, and care.
Why Bird’s Nest Felt So Personal
Bird’s Nest is not just the featured ingredient in Good Regimen.
It is part of the brand’s identity.
For me, it represents heritage, care, nourishment, and modern skincare coming together.
Growing up in a Chinese family, Bird’s Nest carried cultural meaning. It was associated with beauty and wellness long before it appeared in a skincare formula. But as someone who struggled with oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin, I also wanted more than tradition. I wanted skincare that made sense for modern skin concerns.
That is why Good Regimen is built around Bird’s Nest skincare, but not in a way that feels old-fashioned or overly complicated.
The goal was to take something meaningful from my heritage and reimagine it through a modern, gentle, barrier-first skincare routine.
To me, that is what makes Good Regimen special.
It is personal.
It is rooted in culture.
It is shaped by real skin struggles.
And it is designed for people who want their skin to look and feel healthier without relying on harsh, overwhelming routines.
Why I Created Good Regimen Skin Company
I created Good Regimen Skin Company because I wanted skincare that felt gentle, effective, intentional, and consistent.
I wanted to create products for people who are tired of feeling like skincare has to be harsh to work — people with oily skin, acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, active lifestyles, or skin that feels unbalanced, dehydrated, dull, or easily irritated.
Good Regimen was created around the idea that skincare should support the skin’s foundation first.
That means cleansing without stripping.
Hydrating with intention.
Supporting the skin barrier.
Respecting the skin microbiome.
Using thoughtful ingredients.
Building a routine that is easy to stay consistent with.
Because good skin is not built from one miracle product.
It is built from a good regimen.
Good Regimen was created for people who want gentle, hydrating, barrier-supportive skincare that fits real life — sweat, sunscreen, stress, late nights, humid weather, and all.
Rooted in Heritage, Formulated in the U.S.
Good Regimen Skin Company brings together two important parts of my story: my heritage and my skin journey.
The heritage side comes from growing up with Bird’s Nest as a respected Chinese wellness ingredient.
The skin journey side comes from years of struggling with oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin and learning that harsh routines were not the answer for me.
Together, those two parts became the foundation of the brand.
Good Regimen Skin Company is a U.S.-based skincare brand with U.S. formulation, created to bring together traditional Asian beauty wisdom with modern skincare standards.
The heart of the brand is White Bird’s Nest, an ingredient I grew up respecting through my Chinese family background, but the formulas are designed for the way people care for their skin today.
My goal was not just to use Bird’s Nest because it was rare. It was to honor the meaning behind it and create a thoughtful skincare regimen that made this treasured ingredient feel more accessible, modern, and easy to use every day.
To me, Good Regimen represents the bridge between where I come from and what I needed for my own skin.
It honors tradition, but it is not stuck in the past.
It is personal, but it is made for others.
It is inspired by heritage, but formulated for modern skin.
Why the Name “Good Regimen” Matters
The name Good Regimen came from a belief that became very personal to me:
Good skin starts with a good regimen.
For years, I thought good skin came from finding one strong product that could fix everything.
But what I learned is that skin needs support from the full routine.
The way you cleanse matters.
The way you hydrate matters.
The way you treat your skin matters.
The way you moisturize matters.
The way you stay consistent matters.
A good regimen does not have to be complicated. It just has to be thoughtful.
That is why I wanted the brand name to feel simple, honest, and true.
Good Regimen is about building daily skincare rituals that support the skin over time.
The Bird’s Nest Collection was created to make a complete skincare routine feel intentional, gentle, and supportive.
Each product has a purpose.
The Cleansing Oil helps remove sunscreen, makeup, excess oil, and daily buildup as an optional first cleanse.
The Cleanser helps cleanse the skin without leaving it feeling stripped.
The Toner helps hydrate, soften, and prepare the skin for the next steps in the routine.
The upcoming Face Serum will add a focused hydration treatment step to help skin feel soft, smooth, refreshed, and replenished.
The Eye Serum helps support the delicate eye area with a targeted step for skin that can often look tired, dry, or less firm.
The Moisturizer provides lightweight hydration for daily comfort.
The Face Cream offers richer nourishment when the skin feels dry, tight, or in need of extra care.
Together, these products were designed to support a full Bird’s Nest skincare regimen rooted in hydration, balance, comfort, barrier support, and healthy-looking radiance.
What I Want Good Regimen to Stand For
Good Regimen is personal because I know what it feels like to struggle with your skin.
I know what it feels like to be oily and acne-prone and still feel dry or dehydrated.
I know what it feels like to depend on harsh products because you are afraid your skin will get worse without them.
I know what it feels like to sweat all day, stay active, go out, eat foods you love, live your life, and still want your skin to feel balanced.
And I know what it feels like to finally see your skin feel healthier, calmer, and more balanced.
I also know that when your skin starts to feel healthier, your confidence can start to feel different too.
That is why I care so much about the philosophy behind this brand.
Good Regimen is not about perfection.
It is about progress.
It is about supporting your skin with intention.
It is about giving people a routine that feels gentle enough to trust and effective enough to stay consistent with.
In many ways, Good Regimen carries both parts of where I come from: the Aloha spirit of warmth, care, humility, and community, and the Chinese wellness traditions that taught me nourishment begins with intention.
Together, those values shaped the kind of skincare brand I wanted to build — one rooted in care, respect, and consistency.
A Personal Note From Clarence
If you are someone who has struggled with oily, acne-prone, or sensitive skin, I understand how frustrating it can be.
I know what it feels like to look for answers everywhere.
I know what it feels like to try products that are supposed to help, only to realize your skin does not actually feel healthy.
I know what it feels like to be afraid to stop using harsh treatments because you worry your skin will break out again.
I also know how much your skin can affect your confidence — how it can change the way you feel in photos, in conversations, or even just walking into a room.
And I know how meaningful it feels when your skin finally starts to feel healthier, calmer, and more balanced.
That is why Good Regimen matters so much to me.
This brand was built from my own experience, my Chinese heritage, and the Hawaiian warmth I grew up around — the aloha spirit of care, kindness, humility, and connection.
I wanted Good Regimen to feel like skincare rooted in that same kind of care.
Gentle.
Intentional.
Supportive.
Consistent.
Because good skin should start with a regimen that supports you — and helps you feel more comfortable and confident in your own skin.
Final Thoughts: From My Skin Journey to Yours
Good Regimen Skin Company began with my own skin journey, but it became something much bigger.
It became a way to honor my Chinese heritage.
It became a way to carry forward the Aloha spirit I grew up with in Honolulu — warmth, care, respect, humility, and community.
It became a way to reconnect with an ingredient I grew up knowing as rare, precious, and meaningful — an ingredient that started for me as a warm, sweet soup tied to family, culture, and care.
And it became a way to create the kind of skincare I wish I had when I was younger — gentle, supportive, intentional, and rooted in consistency.
After years of spending every dollar I could on acne products, using harsh acid spot treatments, going through dermatologist treatments, relying on harsh systems, and learning the hard way that stripped skin is not healthy skin, I wanted to create something different.
Something that supports the skin.
Something that respects the skin.
Something that helps people build a routine they can believe in.
That is the story behind Good Regimen Skin Company.
And it is why I will always believe:
Good skin starts with Good Regimen.

Growing up, Bird’s Nest was known as a rare and treasured ingredient associated with nourishment and care. Good Regimen reimagines that traditional ingredient through modern skincare formulas.
How did the Aloha spirit inspire Good Regimen?
Growing up in Honolulu, Clarence was shaped by the Aloha spirit of warmth, care, humility, respect, and community. Those values helped influence Good Regimen’s approach to skincare as something supportive, intentional, and rooted in care.
How did growing up in Honolulu affect Clarence’s skin journey?
Growing up in Honolulu meant living with strong sun, high humidity, frequent sweating, beach days, outdoor activity, and an active lifestyle. For oily, acne-prone skin, that made skincare more challenging and helped shape Clarence’s belief in gentle cleansing, hydration, barrier support, and consistency.
Did Clarence deal with adult acne?
Yes. Clarence’s acne journey continued into adulthood. Toward the end of his undergraduate years and into his full-time working life, he dealt with adult acne that led him to frequent dermatologist visits, prescription-strength treatments, injections into acne sites, liquid nitrogen treatments, and even Accutane.
Did Clarence use Proactiv before creating Good Regimen?
Yes. After years of trying over-the-counter products and dermatologist treatments, Clarence tried Proactiv because, for his skin, it was one of the first products that seemed to make a noticeable difference in the appearance of his acne. However, he also experienced tradeoffs, including skin that often felt dry, tight, stripped, reactive, and uncomfortable.
What makes Good Regimen different from harsh acne products?
Good Regimen was created around a gentler, barrier-first skincare philosophy. Instead of focusing on stripping or drying the skin, the Bird’s Nest Collection is designed to support cleansing, hydration, comfort, barrier care, and healthier-looking skin through a consistent regimen.
Is Good Regimen a U.S. company?
Yes. Good Regimen Skin Company is a U.S.-based skincare brand with U.S. formulation, inspired by traditional Asian beauty wisdom, Clarence’s Chinese heritage, the Aloha spirit, and a modern barrier-first skincare philosophy.
