Clarence Ma, founder of Good Regimen Skin Company, created the brand from his own experience with oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin and a lifelong connection to Bird’s Nest through his Chinese heritage and Honolulu upbringing. His vision is simple: skincare should feel intentional, gentle, supportive, and consistent — helping skin look healthier without relying on harsh extremes.
From Family Tradition to Bird’s Nest Skincare
Good Regimen Skin Company began with a memory.
Growing up in Honolulu in a Chinese immigrant family, Bird’s Nest was something I knew long before I understood its place in skincare. It was rare, precious, and deeply respected. In our home, it was not something you wasted — not a single drop.
Bird’s Nest represented care. It represented nourishment. It represented the kind of tradition that stays with you, even when you are too young to fully understand it.
Years later, as I struggled with my own skin, that memory began to take on new meaning.
My Skin Journey
I grew up with skin that was oily, sensitive, and acne-prone. Like many people trying to find the right routine, I tried product after product hoping something would finally work.
But too often, skincare felt like a tradeoff.
Some products felt too harsh.
Some left my skin feeling stripped.
Some made my skin feel overwhelmed.
Some routines felt too complicated to stay consistent with.
I wanted skincare that felt different — something gentle, supportive, effective, and realistic for daily life.
That became the beginning of Good Regimen.
Why Bird’s Nest
Bird’s Nest has long been treasured in Chinese wellness and beauty traditions. Often called the “Caviar of the East,” it has been valued for its naturally occurring nutrients, including amino acids and glycoproteins, and its connection to nourishment, vitality, and radiance.
For me, Bird’s Nest was not just an ingredient I discovered later. It was part of my family story.

I did not want to create skincare that felt harsh, intimidating, or unnecessarily complicated. I wanted to create formulas that felt intentional, supportive, and easy to return to every day.
