Founder's Story
Growing up in Honolulu in a Chinese immigrant family, edible white Bird’s Nest was something I knew well—but rarely experienced. It wasn’t an everyday luxury. It was expensive, hard to come by back then, and reserved for special moments. Only when a relative returned from abroad, generous enough to bring some back, would we get to enjoy it. And when we did, it was precious—every spoonful mattered. We were reminded to savor every drop.
In our home, it was prepared simply—usually as a sweet soup, made to highlight its nutritional value while softening the texture for a child’s palate. My elders spoke of its rich history, its powerful benefits, and its almost mythical reputation as a healing superfood. At the time, I didn’t fully understand. But I listened—and I made sure not to waste a single drop.
It wasn’t until my teenage years that I truly began to appreciate what Bird’s Nest represented—especially as I struggled with my own skin.
I grew up with oily, acne-prone skin, and like many others, I tried everything. Over-the-counter products, harsh scrubs, oil-control treatments—you name it. I didn’t have much money, but I spent whatever I could chasing solutions, hoping the next product would finally be “the one.” I educated myself through trial and error, experimenting with anything that claimed to work. Some helped a little. Many didn’t. And some made things worse.
My skin didn’t just affect how I looked—it affected how I felt. I avoided photos for a long time. I lacked confidence. I felt uncomfortable in my own skin. Feels about myself and my lifestyle that took years to shake.
Eventually, I begged my parents to take me to a dermatologist—but not before trying every cultural remedy they believed in. I still remember rubbing watermelon rind on my face religiously, hoping it would work. It didn’t.
At the dermatologist, I went through it all—prescription cleansers, injections, liquid nitrogen treatments, and even Accutane. While some treatments helped, none gave me the results—or the confidence—I was searching for. And the side effects? They were harsh, and not something you could sustain long-term.
So I kept searching.
Through all of this, Bird’s Nest stayed in the back of my mind. It was always there—rare, intriguing, and somehow different. Years later, a thought kept coming back to me:
What if the benefits of Bird’s Nest could be applied directly to the skin?
That question changed everything.
As I dug deeper, I discovered that not only was it possible—it was backed by science. Research from leading institutions confirmed that the powerful nutrients found in Bird’s Nest could translate effectively into skincare. With advanced extraction techniques, those benefits could be delivered directly to the skin—daily.
But I needed to know for myself.
After years of testing it on my own skin—after everything I had tried—I finally found something that worked. Not just marginally. Not temporarily. But truly worked. And unlike everything else, it did so gently. No harsh side effects. No trade-offs.
I began sharing it with friends and family—people with similar skin struggles, even estheticians and those with highly sensitive skin. Some were hesitant at first. But the results spoke for themselves. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
That’s when I knew—this wasn’t just personal. This could help others.
Our mission became clear: make this accessible.
